Mead & Hunt Merged with Symboint Science

We congratulate our client, Mead & Hunt, Inc. (“Mead & Hunt”), on their merger with Symbiont Science,

Engineering and Construction, Inc., (“Symbiont”), an engineering, procurement, and construction

(“EPC”) firm. The merger will allow both firms to offer enhanced services to clients and expand their

geographic and market reach, specifically in the areas of water/wastewater, renewable energy (biogas),

and food and beverage.


Founded in Wisconsin in 1900, Mead & Hunt provides planning, architecture design, engineering,

environmental and construction administration services nationwide and ranks #91 on ENR’s Top 500

Design Firms. With a team of over 1,200 professionals in more than 40 offices across the US, Mead &

Hunt supports several key markets, including aviation, transportation, food and beverage, federal, state

and local governments, and water.


Symbiont is an established engineering, design-build, and construction firm founded in 1981. Providing

innovative engineering technologies that optimize environmental and sustainability goals, they have

grown steadily in size, offerings, and geography. The Milwaukee-based firm, with over 110 employees,

has additional offices in Peoria, IL and Waukesha, WI. Unique to the firm is a state-of-the-art fabrication

shop in Waukesha which helps control scheduling and delivers preassembled equipment to project sites,

tested and ready to go.


The merger has significant benefits for both firms and reflects Mead & Hunt’s strategic plan to invest in

EPC project delivery and design-build, renewable natural gas, and process design across their Symbiont’s

key markets of water/wastewater, renewable energy, and food and beverage. Similarly, joining Mead &

Hunt allows Symbiont expand its services offerings through Mead & Hunt’s diverse engineering and

design expertise.
